The Milaap Fellowship Program gives graduates/young professionals with the program to make an influence. It provides candidates six months to survive, experience and offer to a significant cause while documenting inspirational stories of transformation.
As a Member, candidates primary task will be to reach borrowers who have been financed by Milaap and express their stories. The candidate will contribute six months in a small town in rural India, and write brief updates on all of the borrowers that you reach.
Milaap Fellowship starts in July 2020. A stipend of INR 18,000 per month plus compensations for area visits and other job-related costs.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Candidates have to escort a weekly summary of loan profiles posted by Milaap’s associate on the Loan Portal, manage the due application, and address compelling loan narratives based on the information gathered.
- Candidates have to contribute appealing features to the Milaap blog two times a month. This could incorporate candidates experiences in the profession, profiles of people the candidate interacts with, writing about the area and individual culture, or extensive updates compared to microfinance.
Stakeholder Management
- Candidates need to communicate with a variation of stakeholders from many rural and semi-urban backgrounds.
- Candidates have to attend and interview borrowers financed by Milaap, validate loan data, know how the borrowed funds were used, and address short Impact narratives based on this data.
- Candidates have to gather data for loan updates by a randomly selected sample of borrowers to assure the credibility of the answers
Process Improvement and training
- Candidates have to give training to Field Partner staff on Milaap procedures, policies and best methods, and on using the Loan gateway where needed and make suggestions to make the methods and the entire practice, if needed
- Candidates have to give the training to train Field Partners to efficiently upload customer profiles that are engaging, diverse and genuine

Eligibility Criteria
Candidate should possess
- Candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Candidate should possess knowledge of the local language (depending on area): Hindi, Odia, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, or Manipuri

- Candidates should know MS Office Suite and web tools (Gmail, Skype, WordPress, etc.)
- Candidate should have experience in the developmental sector
- Candidate should have understood Milaap’s mission and an interest in the improvement sector
- Candidate should have a high degree of versatility and adaptability to new conditions
- Minimum 4-6 -month commitment

Selection Procedure
If the profile fits the qualifications, applicants will be called for interviews.
The beginners have to visit a five-day training at Milaap headquarters in Bangalore. The instruction will cover the design, the tools, and the support you will need during the Fellowship Program. Milaap will make sure to contribute with some essential information that candidates will require on candidates placement sites too. The training will also allow you to meet and communicate with the Milaap team.
Immediately after the training week, the fellows would leave for candidates assigned to the area. The initial seven days can be used to adjust to their location and get to understand their Field Partner. Once in the city, will be appointed a diverse set of daily tasks challenging creativity, sense of accountability, and autonomy.
Milaap would also like candidates to share their experiences on the field via blog posts. A broad audience will read your contributions to the Milaap blog and other content platforms such as Karmany Connect, The Better India and The Optimist Citizen.
