FOSSEE Summer Fellowship: FOSSEE Summer Fellowship, an initiative of the Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education (FOSSEE). The project is funded by the National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, GOI. FOSSE primarily works towards the goal of adaptation and development of free and open-source simulation packages which are similar to proprietary software. The project is based at IIT, Bombay.
Graduate, Post Graduate Students and Research Fellows can also find more Fellowship Articles to explore various fellowships across India to know the funding opportunities.
The Project seeks to promote the use of various open-source programs such as DWSIM, Scilab, Python, Open PLC, Open Modelica, CFD, and OSdag. Other activities of FOSSEE include lab migration, workshops, textbook companions, conferences, spoken tutorials, and FOSSEE forums. The fellowship is open to all students from all streams of study. Furthermore, interested candidates are given certain tasks as screening tests. The foundation allows a maximum of two topics to be selected. However, it strongly encourages the candidates to focus on a single screening task and then submit it successfully. This increases their chances of selection.
Read on to explore the list of screening tasks, eligibility criteria, the application process, important dates and benefits of the fellowship.
FOSSEE Summer Fellowship Screening Tasks
Following is a list of screening tasks. Candidates are required to choose a maximum of two and submit. However, selecting one task and completing it successfully will increase the chances of selection.
The following tasks require the submission of a proposal followed by subsequent acceptance. Results in collaborative content creation:
